Premdeep Foundation

Premdeep Foundation is a public and non-profit ‘Non Government Organisation’ (NGO), registered under the Sub-section (2) of Section 13 of the Madhya Pradesh Society Registration Act 1973 (No. 44, Year 1973). Henceforth, this organization is working all over India since 19th March, 1993.

The fundamental objective of Premdeep Foundation is to contribute towards a society that is ‘a just, equitable, humane and sustainable society’ as envisaged in the Constitution of India. Towards this goal, this NGO has identified education as a critical area which has a direct impact on the economic, scientific, social and cultural development of the country, as whole. Its mission is to strengthen community-led development initiatives to achieve positive social, economic, scientific and environmental change across the nation, especially in rural areas. As a rural development NGO, Premdeep Foundation has a skilled and dedicated team that creates sustainable programmes to address the most urgent needs of rural India.

With the support of donors and partners, Premdeep Foundation designs and promotes rural development interventions that create opportunities, build resilience and provide solutions to the most pressing challenges in India’s poorest communities. The Premdeep’s team works closely with rural communities to create sustainable programmes to manage water resources, increase agricultural productivity and strengthen rural governance. With nearly three decades of experience in sustainable rural development, Premdeep Foundation has so far been at the forefront of designing and implementing interventions based on collective action, that address rural development issues. Resultantly, Premdeep Foundation’s grassroots programmes and development interventions have already reached around one million people across India, providing individuals and communities with the tools they need to advance and enhance their own development.

Furthermore, the NGO - Premdeep Foundation has a comprehensive development approach with the prime objective of creating and supporting meaningful activities through innovative institutions to address some of India’s most pressing developmental challenges. The Foundation lays significant emphasis on leveraging technology for developmental solutions. Following its model of direct engagement, Premdeep Foundation reaches out directly to the affected communities through trained professionals.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

In brief, the point-wise key achievements of “Premdeep Foundation” are as follows:

1. Water Conservation Programme including Ponds and Recharge Wells:

Premdeep Foundation is working in the field of water conservation since 25 years. As water conservation is the main issue, the Foundation has focused on building water storage ponds, especially in the semi-arid areas of Madhya Pradesh. In recent years, this activity has been extended to other areas as well. The Foundation works with communities to harvest and store the rainwater by building and repairing infrastructure in villages. The Foundation is also instrumental in reviving traditional water bodies, building water storage dams and creating awareness about the need for water conservation. Premdeep Foundation also collaborates with others to continuously improve and replicate low-cost water management and conservation methods.

2. Himalayan Culture Programme:

Premdeep Foundation has organized various literary and cultural activities from time to time which include seminars, meetings and talks related to Himalayan culture. Through these, Premdeep has played an important role in protecting and preserving the ancient, historical and traditional Himalayan culture which is helpful for the development of the country.

3. Promotion of Buddhist / Tibetan Arts & Culture:

Foundation has been involved in various programmes for the promotion of Buddhist / Tibetan art and culture from time to time. Various seminars and meetings have been organized for this purpose and keen interest has also been taken in research work on Buddhism. The Foundation has reviewed the origins of Buddhism through books, literature and culture, and has introduced the livelihoods and contributions of Buddhists to the well-being of today’s lives. Many Buddhism books and literature have been purchased and distributed for this purpose. Apart from distribution of food and clothes, living arrangements, education, training etc. to poor Buddhists / Buddhist monks, cleanliness of old and historical Buddhist places has also been done.

4. Health Checkup Camps, Distribution of Medicines, Masks, Sanitizers and AIDS Awareness:

The NGO has organized many ‘Free Health Checkup Camps’ and ‘Free Eye Checkup Camps’ under the supervision of Specialist Doctors for all kinds of people. As a result, essential medicines have been distributed especially to the needy and poor sections of people, women and children. The society has played an important role in fighting the Corona Virus (Covid-19). The society has played an important role to fight against the Corona Virus (COVID-19). During ‘Covid-19’ outbreak, the society has distributed free masks and sanitizers to huge number of people. At the same time, by playing ‘Street Show’, people were advised to apply face masks and maintain social distancing. Financial assistance has also been taken from the empowered persons to achieve these goals.

5. Skill Development Programme:

This NGO has been involved in various skill development programs very well. To serve the purpose, ‘Hunar Kendra’ (Skill Centre) and ‘Vidya Kendra’ (Vidya Centre) have been established. Under the ‘Hunar Kendra’, various skill development programmes have been provided with skills (knowledge / skills) by organizing workshops and seminars for all categories of students and women and men. Under ‘Vidya Kendra’ by the organization, many poor students have been helped in the preparation of various competitive examinations. Under the financial assistance schemes of the central and state governments for the minority community, this NGO has helped Muslim students, men and women, by organizing various workshops. They have been imparted knowledge and made aware for various employments.

6. Agriculture Programme:

The Foundation has organized various workshops / seminars and training programmes, etc. to create awareness about various government and non-government schemes available for the welfare of farmers. The farmers have been provided information and knowledge of government subsidies and beneficial schemes, so that they can become selfreliant and get double profit from the agricultural products; thereby the country can be motivated to become as ‘Atmnibhar Bharat’.

7. Science and Research Development Programmes:

Some of the Office-bearers / Trustee of Premdeep Foundation have participated in various scientific events like conferences, seminars, workshops, meetings, exhibition and other research activities to know about, help and contribute a lot in the development of science, technology, research and development. By doing this especially youth or young research scholars have been benefited. Financial assistance and other assistance have been provided to the needy persons for publication of scientific research papers / books / literatures. The Foundation has also organized scientific events such as seminars, workshops, meetings and exhibitions.

8. ‘Swachchha Bharat Abhiyaan’ (Clean India Movement) Programme:

This programme has been organised from time to time by the Foundation, so that cleanliness awareness and Clean India can be created through people in different areas.

9. Women Empowerment and Child Development Programmes:

The foundation has helped many women to become self-reliant by mentoring them about various government and nongovernment schemes. The Society has also worked for the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme launched by the Government of India (GOI). Apart from this, the organization has organized various seminars and workshops related to women empowerment and child labour. 10. Youth Welfare, Sports and Awareness Programmes: The Foundation has also contributed to some extent towards the development and welfare of the youth through financial support and guidance. Sports activities, games etc. have been organized, and youth have been given financial assistance so that they can become state and national level players / champions. The youth have been provided better knowledge and awareness about the various welfare schemes of the government.

11. Tourism Development Programme:

The organization has also started a tourism programme for the development of tourist places.

12. Environment Protection Programme including Plantation:

Various programmes especially ‘Tree Plantation’ have been done from time to time to conserve and protect the environment. Also, rallies and exhibitions have been organized to bring awareness about environmental protection.

13. Handicraft and Handloom Programmes with Workshops and Seminars:

Various schemes related to Khadi, Handicrafts and Handlooms launched by the central and state governments have exposed large number of women and men through workshops and seminars of Premdeep Foundation.

14. Nationalism Programme- ‘Kalam Ka Bharat’:

The society has organized ‘Kalam Ka Bharat’ programme with the aim of inculcating the spirit of nationalism among the youth of India. Many other works have been done on the lives, stories and devotion of the great men / women of India.

15. Charitable Activities- Foods, Cloths, Books and School Uniforms Distribution:

As a part of charitable work, Premdeep Foundation has distributed food items like ration, fruits, vegetables; and clothes like sweaters, shawls, sarees and other clothes to the needy and poor class people and even to sick persons admitted in the hospital, by organizing various programmes. From time to time, various scientific, educational, literary, cultural and social activities have been organized through different seminars of the society and financially helped to many students / scholars associated with the society. Keeping in view the concept of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, the society has also distributed books, stationery and other study materials to many poor girl students in rural and urban areas. Apart from these, the NGO has distributed school uniforms to several poor girl students of all categories.

16. Help to Poor Girls for Marriage:

To promote and help the ‘Kanya Vivah Yojana’ of Premdeep Foundation, certain poor families have been given financial help for the marriage of their daughters.

17. Other Social Works / Miscellaneous Activities:

On the occasion of “Narmada Jayanti”, the organisation has celebrated the programme ‘Narmada Ki Bat, Vigyan Ke Saath’. In this programme, issues related to the river / water conservation, cleanliness and environmental awareness have been discussed with the people. The society has participated in various religious activities in view of Indian secularism, and helped in the maintenance of environment for all religions.
