“TV gives everyone an image, but Radio give birth to a
million images in a million brains” Said by Peggy Noonan. As for the above said words Television is Radio without the imagination. But if the media is
owned and managed by the community it can reflect their insights, native wisdom and heritage.
The RADIO REWA (89.6 FM), a station primarily broadcasted programmes on agriculture,
environment, health, education, community development, rural development through a small
segment is reserved for entertainment other kinds of programmes as well.
The programmes are in the local dialect but sometimes the speakers use simple English and Hindi. The content is mostly collected from the scientists of the University of Agricultural Sciences, progressive farmers and offices of the development departments from the state government the information will be time bound and location specific advice to the farmers. The basic idea behind this was to reach the local community through the medium of Radio and try to address their problems. The Channel not only deals with issues related to agriculture but also handless issues such as health, nutrition, hygiene and income generating activities.
